Research, Publications and International Engagement
FUV invests in research and development focused on building sustainability. Architect and researcher Theodoros Tountas is a member of the European airtightness network TightVent Europe and has presented and published research at international academic conferences.
INTERNATIONAL KNOWLEDGE NETWORK
AIVC · Air Infiltration and Ventilation Centre
The AIVC was established in 1979 and is a project of the Energy in Buildings and Communities programme of the International Energy Agency. It gathers technical knowledge on ventilation, air infiltration, indoor environmental quality and the energy performance of buildings.
Its work is disseminated through technical notes, a publications database, webinars and its annual international conference. Its activities connect research with design, implementation and the development of technical policy. Greece is among the countries that support the AIVC.
FUV contributes Greek field data, presentations and publications by Theodoros Tountas on airtightness and ventilation. This international engagement gives wider visibility and context to experience gained from Greek buildings and strengthens the evidence base applied in projects and training.
EUROPEAN AIRTIGHTNESS PLATFORM
TightVent Europe
TightVent Europe was established in 2011 at the initiative of INIVE as a European platform dedicated to building-envelope and ductwork airtightness. Its work covers requirements, design, implementation, testing and reliable reporting, with direct links to energy performance, indoor air quality and renovation.
Through partnerships, conferences, publications and the TightVent Airtightness Associations Committee it brings together national associations and specialists from many countries. This joint work promotes reliable testing, inspection and reporting procedures, and the exchange of knowledge around standards and technical guidance.
Theodoros Tountas is a member of TightVent Europe and contributes data from the Greek market and FUV’s testing activities to the network. Participation provides access to standards, regulatory developments and quality-control methods being developed at European level.
